16-Mar-2014 The Same But Different

Out and about, audience, floor spotting, bill topping, touristing, dining out, digital technology… it’s all been in there this week.

Friends Steve & Kristi are staying with us for a while during their UK tour and we got to see them on two consecutive guest nights. On Sunday at Guisborough Folk Club we elected not to take our instruments and instead concentrated on videoing their performance – it also gave us a chance to try out Val’s new video camera which yielded impressive results.

On Monday we headed off for Steve & Kristi’s guest night at the Iron Horse Folk Club in Newton Aycliffe – another enjoyable night… it’s the first time we’ve visited the new venue for John Snowball’s club, and it was good to give our newest song ‘Don’t Get Mad (AKA Life’s A Bitch)’ it’s first folk club performance. Nice to get people picking up and singing the chorusy bits.

Tuesday saw us in Newcastle, taking in some shopping and a visit to the Hancock Museum – we rounded off the day by heading down towards the Quayside for a meal at an Italian restaurant.

Wednesday was devoted to catching up on a number of music and video related projects. Thursday saw Steve & Kristi heading off to Val’s birthplace (Kirkcaldy) for their guest night at the Acoustic Music Club there while we had two consecutive days of care home performances.

It’s a lovely sunny day today and we’re going to drive over to Northumberlandia with Steve & Kristi in a few minutes – and this evening we’re having a get together with Jim & Allyson Wigfield too… table for 6 booked at our favourite local Chinese restaurant – look out calorie count!

Life is good, and very full.
