28-Oct-2012 Normal Service Will Be Resumed

Val has been temping this week, leaving Jimmy at a loose end throughout three days… reading, playing guitar and generally not knowing what to do with himself.

Slowly but surely we’re inching back into whatever suffices for our ‘normal’ routine. On Friday we played acoustically at a new care home – just as well we didn’t have mic stands etc as it could have been somewhat cramped with one of the residents dancing right next to us and whispering sweet nothings in our ears – everyone had a great time, and we made promises to return as we packed the gear up before setting off on our homeward journey only to find we’d left the glockenspiel behind. See what a few days off does for your routine?

We’ve taken delivery of our newest shiny black gizmo, a Samsung WB850F Smart camera – it is, to put it mildly, a belter. Lovely picture quality, phenomenal zoom and full 1080 HD video at a quality that belies the camera’s size and price. Special thanks to Anthony John Clarke for allowing us to disceetly video a snippet of his guest night at the Davy Lamp Folk Club on Saturday. It was a super night – great to catch up again with Anthony John and Julia, and to thoroughly enjoy his performance as always.

Next week sees us back to regular performance mode (5 care homes on consecutive days) and we’re looking forward to seeing Cathryn Craig & Brian Willoughby at Cramlington Folk Club on Tuesday evening.

Busy times ahead
