16-Sep-2012 Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover

On the face of it, you’d be forgiven for thinking that we’ve had an easy time of it this week… but appearances can be deceptive.

Performances at two care homes and an afternoon slot at the Acoustic Music Extravaganza in Masham were the sum total of our live performances this week – and all very enjoyable too.

However, the march of technology has been much in our minds as we grappled with three computers – one at home, one requiring a visit to some friends, and (the scariest of them all) one troubleshooting a boot-up problem over the phone. We’re happy to report that all appears well on all machines. The callout visit gave us a chance to catch up socially while sorting out email blockages perpetrated by BT Yahoo, the telephone diagnostics involved numerous tweaks and restarts and, by a process of elimination and inspired guesswork, all was eventually resolved – malware can be awkward to treat at the best of times. The home machine was a combination of hardware enhancements (swapping over blu-ray writer and second hard drive from previous PC) and software installations and re-registration/activation… and yes, all our software is legal and fully licenced – shareware and donation-ware paid up as is only right and proper. The only bit left to do is setting up access to the wireless printers on the home network.

Best sign off and get that sorted then.
