01-Mar-2007 Allan Taylor songbook volume 1 re-published

2006 was a hectic year for us – we didn’t get out and perform as often as in 2005, but with very good reason.

It all started in February – we were at an Allan Taylor gig in Stanley, County Durham, selling his CDs as usual. We remarked to Allan that we regularly get requests for his songbook (published 1997 and no longer in stock). After some discussion it was decided that we would collaborate with Allan and produce a re-draft of the book… but:

  • A5 format
  • Include ‘The Wall’ – a song somehow missed from from the 1997 version
  • Re-scan all the pictures and add some new ones
  • Re-do the chord shapes
  • New/updated text

By the autumn we had been through numerous drafts, cover designs and editing sessions together, and the book was finally deemed ready for printing.

Towards the end of the year Allan took some with him on a European tour, coming back with none left. More were being sold at gigs in the UK, and we have now created a web page where visitors to Allan’s site (http://www.allantaylor.com/) can buy the book and CDs online. Almost immediately orders started to come in, and sales are continuing well.

Allan is already thinking about volume 2, so we’re bound to be very busy again with that one – however, we plan to get out and about more in 2007, sharing jiva’s gentle blend wherever we can… hopefully we’ll see you somewhere soon.
